2025 Watchlist

everything i've watched this year, newest first:

Ocean's 12

「 06/09 」︎

I never realised how convoluted this plot is until I watched it with my mam. She kept asking questions about what was going on, which is a pretty average movie-watching experience with her, but notable this time because I actually mostly didn't have answers beyond "it's just cool thief stuff don't worry about it"

Anyway its a great movie obviously, it's a bunch of cool thief stuff, whats not to like??

Ricki and The Flash︎

「 31/08 」︎

Truly a pretty bad movie. Decided to watch it when it came up in the "reccomended" sidebar of a totally legal streaming site. Was so enthralled by the idea of Meryl Streep playing a kind of loser washed up rockstar, and intruiged by the fact I'd never ever heard anyone talk about this movie before. Honestly, not very good! But not awful, worth watching if only to satisfy my curiosity.

Bridget Jones' Diary ❤︎

「 30/08 」︎

LOVED THIS. My first time ever watching it and it was fabulous. Absolutely incredible antics and also, fantastic break up movie. Chaotic messy warm hug of a movie to me.

Moulin Rouge! ❤︎

「 30/08 」︎

Knew I would enjoy this movie and I absolutely did. God I miss movie musicals!! I do have to admit though, was distracted the entire time by Ewan McGregor's huge mouth. Never noticed it before, but then I did and every time he sang it was all I could see. Anyway, still a great movie!

The Fantastic Four: First Steps︎

「 30/08 」︎

You can tell I was going through something by the amount of superhero movies I watched in literally the space of a week.

Anyway, kind of just a fine movie, but I somehow managed to miss all the marketing that this was so stylish?? No idea it had the whole kitchy retro futurism thing going on, so that was a delightful surprise!

Thunderbolts︎

「 29/08 」︎

I had less than no interest in watching this for the longest time but decided to try it out - I'm now part of the crowd going "y'know for a marvel movie it was pretty good!"

Anyway, I cannot believe that marvel made their first villain that actually scared me, and it's just the embodiment of depression.

Black Bag ❤︎

「 28/08 」︎

OHHHH contender for a new fave!!!! Oh my god. Next person I date I'm gonna screen them by whether they think this is the ideal couple dynamic and I WILL drop them if they say no. THIS is the level of freak devotion I need. /br Understands the best thing about spies is the people, and the geopolitical machinations are just set dressing. Or at least that's where my priorities lay watching this. Not to say the unfurling of the plot wasnt pleasurable - the end scene wrapped the entire thing up so deliciously that I was left with this slow satisfied smile.

"Will there be a mess to clean up?" "Only if we do it right."

Superman ❤︎

「 28/08 」︎

Took me a minute to adjust to the... Vibe?? Of this film. But it's so charming. Loved it so much actually. Maybe superhero movies can be good sometimes???

Challengers, rewatch︎

「 14/08 」︎

Watched this the day I was broken up with and yes it DID help. Just a great time

Pokemon: The First Movie ❤︎

「 06/07 」︎

Kpop Demon Hunters ❤︎

「 05/07 」︎

I understand why they made this so short, I guess maybe kids don't wanna watch a two hour version of this movie but damn it I DO!!!! Netflix release an extended version!

The Outrun ❤︎

「 17/06 」︎

I need to go live on a tiny wind battered island for a few months so so badly. As a fellow girl who dragged herself from rock bottom by throwing herself into an obsession with nature, this movie was holding my hand the entire time.

The Sun Is Also a Star

「 17/06 」︎

Genuinely painful and wanted to turn it off by 30 minutes in but I was on a plane so stuck with it and by the end I had mostly adjusted to the awful clunky dialogue that no human person would ever say, the deeply contrived plot, and utter lack of chemistry between the two leads - and actually enjoyed the ending

The Last Showgirl

「 17/06 」︎

The Big Lebowski

「 11/06 」︎

I mean it's fine I guess. I guess I don't get it.

Master & Commander ❤︎

「 01/06 」︎

I looooove ships so much

Companion

「 26/05 」︎

A Real Pain ❤︎

「 26/05 」︎

Sinners ❤︎

「 11/05 」︎

I love cinema!!! This is so creative and such a breath of fresh air.

The Mule

「 25/04 」︎

Half watched this with my parents, yup that's a movie i guess

One of Them Days ❤︎

「 23/04 」︎

God I love a tight 97 minute silly little movie that's funny as hell 😭 perfect popcorn movie, exactly what I wanted to watch!!! More of these please!!!! Also keke Palmer and SZA are UNREAL together

Operation Mincemeat ❤︎

「 20/04 」︎

>

Assassins Creed ❤︎

「 18/04 」︎

This is not a bad movie!!!! Who knew?? It's not good, really, but it's not bad!!

Daisies ❤︎

「 01/04 」︎

I smiled the entire way home. Sometimes you just have to march through the street yelling that you exist.

All We Imagine as Light

「 30/03 」︎

Accidentally watched this is Dutch, but I enjoyed it more than I understood it.

La Chimera ❤︎

「 29/03 」︎

I love every choice that made this movie exactly what it is. What a stunning movie.

Mickey 17

「 28/03 」︎

I liked this while I was watching it, and then left the theater and slowly got more pissed off about it. Kind of bad!

Only Lovers Left Alive ❤︎

「 22/02 」︎

I love vampires. I love dainty glassware. This movie has it all.

Babygirl

「 20/02 」︎

This wasn't a particularly mind blowing movie for me, I found these characters to have absolutely zero chemistry, but it was a good watch and if this acts as a catalyst for some realisations in the movie theatre, then godspeed my freaks

Queer ❤︎

「 24/01 」︎

Left the theatre shellshocked after this movie. I didn't enjoy it, but I glad I watched it. A deeply lonely, beautiful, painful movie

The Green Knight ❤︎

「 20/01 」︎

Dev Patel I augghhhhghhhhhghh.

Might be a favourite movie if I watch it again, beautiful, strange, meditation on personal responsibility.

Blue Velvet

「 17/01 」︎

Pacific Rim, rewatch ❤︎

「 13/01 」︎

Happy Apocalypse Cancelled Day to all who celebrate!!! 12th of January 2025 Raleigh and Mako sealed the breach!

GOD this movie is SO GOOD. Drift compatibility continues to be the most romantic notion I've ever heard of. I love big robot powered by understanding.

American Psycho ❤︎

「 11/01 」︎

Patrick Bateman is one of the best characters ever to me.

He is the MOST suspicious shifty guy and yet gets away clean despite being obviously freaked out every time he meets the detective. Most guy ever.

Sanctuary ❤︎

「 10/01 」︎

I loooove freaks in love. I love dubiously ethical relationships.

The Fall Guy ❤︎

「 10/01 」︎

It's got DRAMA it's got ACTION it's got ROMANCE, it's got a FUCK ASS western cowboy accent and a dumb as rocks bad guy.

Nosferatu

「 09/01 」︎

Honestly, this was just fine. Solid 3 star movie.

Phantom Thread ❤︎

「 06/01 」︎

Nothing I adore more than relationships that are absolutely unhealthy but somehow also perfect. I love when characters invent unethical BDSM through sheer force of will.

Kneecap ❤︎

「 06/01 」︎

This is as fun as it is brilliant and smart and it manages to be both irreverent and insightful with every second breath. It's just class!!!

Nightbitch

「 05/01 」︎

I wasn't sure how you can translate the absurdity and body horror and fun and anger and fear and sheer exhaustion in the book. And unfortunately, this movie kind of cannot forget that it used to be a book. It's good, but just read the book

Venom: The Last Dance ❤︎

「 05/01 」︎

These are my favourite trash movies, I love goo boyfriends. The start of this movie was incredibly really bad but then venom came out and I'm like "there's my man 😍😍" and I can largely ignore the fact this movie kinda sucks.

Anora ❤︎

「 04/01 」︎

I did not expect to laugh so much through this, and I did not expect to get gut punched in the ending

Wicked

「 02/01 」︎

Wicked was my first solo part (one verse of defying gravity) in my tween stage school so obviously this made me so kind of insane watching it. And I didnt expect it, somehow!! I was like, very mellow about this movie, I really wasn't super excited about this?? And then I spent the entire runtime overcome with nostalgia.
